Full-Day Excursion to the Inca Bridge of Qeswachaka
This full-day excursion to the Inca Bridge of Qeswachaka in Qeswachaka, Peru, will lead you to discover one of the less crowded or lesser-known places on the South Valley route of Cusco. Additionally, it is situated above the Apurímac River with an elevation of 15 meters. This bridge was part of the road network of the Qhapaq Ñan or Inca Trail and is one of the Inca bridges that still retains its original authenticity, as it is constructed with puna straw or ichu. Approximately 1,000 residents from nearby communities are responsible for its annual reconstruction in June.
To clarify, the name of the bridge derives from two Quechua meanings: “Q’eswa” which means braid, and “Chaka” which means bridge. You will experience complete satisfaction after your tour.

First, we will collect you from your hotel in the morning to begin our journey. As we travel through the province of Acomayo, we will make stops to explore the various lagoons of Pomacanchi, Acopia, Asnaqocha, and Pampamarca or Tungasuca. These lagoons are often sites for outdoor activities such as fishing, traditional totora reed hut camps, and paddle boating. Additionally, each lagoon offers a unique array of flora and fauna for you to observe.
Subsequently, we will proceed to the province of Canas. Our ultimate destination will be the Qeswachaka rope bridge, situated at an altitude of 3,700 meters (12,139 feet). This bridge spans 33 meters in length and is 1.20 meters wide. It is manually renewed each year using ichu by the local inhabitants. Prior to engaging in any activities on the bridge, a ceremonial offering is made to Pachamama (Mother Earth) to seek assistance and protection during the crossing.
We will then have the opportunity to traverse the hanging Inca bridge, an experience that requires a certain level of courage. This is truly a unique experience that should not be missed, as it is one of the few bridges that has maintained its traditional construction and purpose from the time of the Incas to the present day. Moreover, you will have the chance to capture stunning photographs of the authentic and unparalleled landscape. After visiting the bridge, we will conclude our Qeswachaka bridge tour by returning to Cusco and dropping you off at your respective hotel.
