The 4-day Inca Jungle Trail or Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu is designed for those eager to experience an adrenaline-packed journey to Machu Picchu. This unique itinerary combines hiking with thrilling adventure sports, including mountain biking, zip-lining, and rafting in stunning rivers. Additionally, we traverse through the scenic Cusco jungle before culminating our adventure at the awe-inspiring wonder: the Machu Picchu citadel.
We’ll kick off our 4-day Inca Jungle Trek adventure bright and early at 5 am. Our transportation will pick us up between 5:00 to 5:30 am (exact time to be reconfirmed). After approximately 3 hours on the road, we’ll reach the high mountain pass of Malaga (4,350 meters) around 11:00 am. From there, we’ll embark on a thrilling downhill mountain biking descent lasting about 3 hours, passing through quaint villages, orchards, rivers, and streams, and arriving at the town of Huamanmarca around 1:30 pm.
Next, our private van will transport the group for a 30-minute ride to the town of Santa Maria. Upon arrival, we’ll begin our rafting adventure for the next 2 hours, navigating through class III and IV rapids. Throughout the journey, a professional safety kayaker will accompany the group to ensure safety until we disembark from the river.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we’ll commence the first day of our trek to Santa Teresa at 6 AM. The initial 2 hours of our hike involve an ascent, with several stops along the way to explore the diverse flora and fauna native to the region.
One of our stops will be at a local family’s home, where we’ll rest for 20 minutes, replenish our water supply, and enjoy some delicious regional tropical fruits. Following our break, we’ll transition to a segment of the Inca Trail that historically linked Machu Picchu to the city of Vilcabamba. Here, our guide will delve into the history of the Incas and the communication systems employed during their era. This vantage point also offers one of the most breathtaking views overlooking the Huancarccasa Canyon.
Subsequently, we’ll descend to the quaint town of Quellomayo for lunch and relaxation in nearby hammocks. Afterward, we’ll continue our trek for an additional two hours to the Cocalmayo thermal baths, where you’ll have ample time to unwind in the naturally heated waters.

After waking up and having breakfast in Santa Teresa, we’ll embark on a 20-minute walk from our hotel to the designated natural area for the canopy activity. This adventure includes 12 platforms and 5 cables, each suspended 250 meters above the valley. The zip lining cables are made of galvanized stainless steel and range in length from 500 meters to 1000 meters. The canopy experience typically lasts about an hour and a half. After its conclusion, we will be transported to the Hydroelectric station.
Lunch will be provided along the route, offering us the chance to view several waterfalls and appreciate the grandeur of nearby peaks such as Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to observe an ancient Incan sundial and other structures like the Machu Picchu citadel. Following a 3-hour hike, we will reach Aguas Calientes, walking alongside the railway tracks leading to the town.

The final day of our journey begins bright and early. We’ll wake up around 5:00 am, enjoy breakfast, and then board one of the earliest buses to Machu Picchu. There are two compelling reasons to arrive at the Machu Picchu entrance so early:
Return Trip to Cusco
Your guide will suggest meeting you in the village of Aguas Calientes for a final lunch at a local restaurant. This is optional and not included in the package. During lunch, your guide will distribute train tickets. If you choose to skip lunch, please ensure you collect these tickets before parting ways at Machu Picchu. Be sure to arrive at the train platform at least 30 minutes prior to departure. The journey will be a 2-hour train ride to Ollantaytambo, where a driver will meet you. From there, you’ll be driven back to Cusco in our bus and dropped off at your hotel.
