Our Chonta Canyon Condor Viewing Tour commences with a 7 a.m. pickup from your accommodation in Cusco. We’ll then journey towards Limatambo, making stops at two intriguing archaeological sites: Killarrumiyoc and Tarawasi. These sites are believed to have possibly served as astronomical observatories for the Incas. Following our exploration, we’ll enjoy a delightful lunch at a local restaurant in Limatambo.

Continuing our adventure, we’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Chonta community at an elevation of 3,400 meters above sea level (masl), as well as the snow-capped peaks of Salkantay and Humantay. Embarking on a leisurely hike of approximately one and a half hours, we’ll eventually arrive at the Huaco viewpoint. Situated at an elevation of 3,350 masl on the right side of the Apurimac River canyon, this viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas of the Apurimac Canyon.

From this vantage point, we’ll have the unique opportunity to witness the magnificent Andean Condor soaring in its natural habitat. The condor, revered as the world’s largest flying bird and considered sacred by the Incas, is sure to leave you in awe. With a bit of luck, we may also spot other bird species such as eagles, hawks, and the elusive white-tailed deer.

After soaking in the beauty and wonder of this unforgettable journey, we’ll make our way back to Cusco, with an estimated arrival time of around 8 p.m.
